Production & Canning Assistant

Since 2015, Zilker Brewing Company has been crafting quality beer with a focus on community and accessibility. We’re a small, self-distributing team with strong values, a passion for clean beer, and a collaborative work ethic. This position plays a critical role in day-to-day packaging operations and responsibilities, including the ability to operate, clean, and maintain the canning line. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated and mechanically inclined individual looking to grow within the brewing industry and take on a more technical role within the production team.
roles & responsibilities
  • Packaging beer
  • Be backup canning line operator for primary canning line operator during absence
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and shutdown of the canning line, including the de-palletizer, date coder, PakTech applicator, and conveyor systems.
  • Assist in operation of filler and seamer during packaging runs, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to SOPs.
  • Perform CIP and SIP procedures for all relevant canning equipment.
  • Conduct basic CO2/O2 checks using in-house equipment
  • Washing and filling kegs
  • Organize cold storage and raw materials
  • Maintain cleanliness across production areas
  • Participate in general brewery operations and support tasks as needed

Skills and Abilities 

  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable with machinery
  • Ability to take direction and learn new procedures quickly
  • Organized, clean, and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Self-motivated
  • Critical Thinking/Problem Solver
  • Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, maneuvering 160 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined/hot spaces

Qualifications

  • Passion for quality beer and the craft brewing process
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Forklift experience (Preferred but not required)
  • Craft Beer: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Must live in Austin, TX
